The Henlopen Acres Beach Club is a private beach club for property owners in Henlopen Acres. Incorporated in 1958, the Club has served as a delightful place for families in the Acres to enjoy the natural beauty of the ocean surf and beach dunes, as the Town’s founder, Colonel Wilbur S. Corkran, intended.

The Club is open and staffed from Memorial Day to mid-September each season.  Property owners are eligible to apply for Resident Membership upon purchase of a home or lot in the Acres.

Location

The Club is located in the northeast corner of the Acres on a 3.8 acre tract of land with 535 feet of ocean frontage. It is located adjacent to the Block W beach, an unguarded beach that is owned by the Henlopen Acres Property Owners Corporation, of which all Acres property members belong by virtue of property ownership in the Acres.

Club Amenities

The Club features a 1,200 square foot club house with a large, open room for parties and events; kitchen and staff area, and rest rooms. Large decks adjoin the club house, providing a picturesque setting to enjoy the ocean.

A paved parking lot is available for members, along with two, fenced-in Har-Tru clay tennis courts. Individual and group tennis lessons are offered throughout the season. Lifeguards are on duty during the Club’s operating hours from 10 am to 5 pm, with beach chairs and umbrellas set up for daily use. Coffee is available in the club house each morning.

Parties

The Club organizes three parties each season for members and their families on Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day. Members are also invited to reserve the club house and deck for a private function, with fees based on the number of guests in attendance. The Club is available for private events from May 15 to September 30.
